New Christmas Art Doll

This darling little 10 inch primitive art doll is caroling. She holds a mini sheet music of Silent Night. Made from coffee stained muslin and cotton she will hold the music for you. I love using fibers and vintage items so she has fiber blonde hair with beads in it and her dress is an off white doily with muslin pantaloons underneith. I just listed her on Etsy and you can read more about her there if your interested. She'll be my last Christmas item for the season. You notice I still got Walt Disney World in the picture below :-)

New Santa for the ADO monthly challenge

This month our challenge on Art Dolls Only was to make a doll using something you have never used before. I had never used double sided interfacing. So I used it to make Santa's cone body. I also had never used this particular air dry clay so thought I would try it out too. I liked it! He is available on my Etsy site if anyone is interested.

New Primitive Art Doll

Meet Maid Marian my newest makedo art doll. She's 12 inches tall dressed in a vintage gown of floral velvet. I have been loving working with fibers so much lately that I had to use more for her hair. In the back she wears a bun! It was a seperate piece I made and added to her.

Maid Marian also wears a amethyst pendant that belonged to my mom. She is mounted on a dowel and wooden stand. I made her entirely by hand without the use of a sewing machine. She's available on Etsy .

Cheese Curds

It was the night before Christmas and Cinnamon was going to bed.
He already had his candy and his teddy named Fred.

When suddenly he found he was having visions of cheese curds running wild in his head...
he looked and he looked but none were in his warm little bed.

Tomorrow is Christmas, thought Cinnamon out loud
That brings family and friends together to break bread.
And, with any luck at all someone will drop a cheese curd on my head.

There's always hope for the future....

Meet Maeve she's a ooak witch dressed in a black velvet dress made from one my own Grandmother made for my mom back in the 30's. She is a stump doll (no legs) holding her very own crystal ball. I love this Halloween Poem...

- by Sandra Liatsos

There's a goblin at my window,
A monster by my door.
The pumpkin at my table
Keeps on smiling more and more.
There's a ghost who haunts my bedroom,
A witch whose face is green.
They used to be my family,
Till they dressed for Halloween.

Retro Makeup Trick

Okay everyone its make a doll time...Apparently the new look in makeup is the hint-o-cat-eye lover look. The idea is to just extend your eyeliner on top slightly and give it a flick toward your temples. Nothing too big or exaggerated. I think this would be great to use on a Doll!

How to pull it off: Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler and then just trace the outline and curve of your outer most lash. Then go over it again to make it a little more dramatic. Now all we need is the white lipstick my sister wore in the 50's and we are set!

I'm in the mood for Orange

Meet Ursula ooak Halloween witch

My newest witch for Halloween is a ooak primitive art doll...she's a good witch (not the bad kind). I made her entirely by hand because I do not use a sewing machine on my items (that's the primitive part of me). I love noses so I focus on the nose and since I just happen to be an X hairstylist guess what else I like. LOL I used Mohair loops on this head of hair and Paul Mitchell. I also use torn homespun and sewed her using the drape method. Ursula is just 9 inches tall not counting the hat. I thought she looked very stylish like she is wearing a Valentino original ready for the red carpet on Halloween. She's for sale on Etsy if your interested.

Last days of August

It was 108 yesterday and I had animals laying all over the place trying to stay cool.

These guys are almost 3 weeks old.

Our peacock landed on our dining room umbrella and broke it. He took a wrong turn somewhere.

So much weeding to do so little time left and I come down here and think who cares anyway.

Here's the culprit and he's losing his tail feathers all over the place. Now you know why I use so many feathers in my items I make.
