Traveling Art Doll Geneva

This darling doll started out as just a magic wand made by Mary Palmer. The first one to actually work on her was Paula Brinkman and she made a wonderful head for her. Next she traveled to Bend, Oregon to see Sandie Nowell. She made her a body and legs and bloomers and oh my she's wonderful! She arrived at my house where she just cried out I want Arms. Using a vintage dark green velvet material and some beads that is exactly what she got and hands too. I also added a peacock feather fan/mask for her to use from our peacock Sweetie. Now she is off to see Helen Fern.

New Vampire Art Doll

While trying a new technique for making teeth I found wow it actually works! You can make them as long or short as you want to. In reality they actually hang straight down but in the picture they look like they stick out. They don't. I wanted this doll to look tired from turning to the dark side and I think she does. She is now a creature of the night holding her "Daddy Long Legs".
She's for sale on my Etsy Shop just $45.00 includes free shipping.

Ginny traveling art doll number three

I saw Ginny and that gorgeous face and head dress that she had on and decided she needed a vintage cape to go with it. So out of a sleeve from a black velvet dress with inlaid rhinestones (my grandmother made my mom in the '30's) I made her a cape which is now a jacket. And, that is a whole other story you will have to read about on the Traveling Art Doll Blog. I also crocheted her a black bag to go with it that has a rhinestone closure.

Crocheted bags were quite the thing back in the good old days. Ginny was originally made by Paula Brinkman for the Traveling Art Doll Project for 2011. Head and face by Sandie Nowell.

2011 Traveling Art Doll

Another year of the traveling art doll is in full swing. This is the first one I have received, Sandie Nowell made this wonderful headless, armless and topless mermaid. I decided what I was adding to her was a top! Cant have her nekked can we? She'd be so embarrassed when she did get eyes!
I found this white stretchy material and a lace trim. I decided on the stretch fabric so that whoever puts the arms on can move the fabric out of the way.

I looked at it for about a week until deciding it was just too white. I decided to tie dye the stretchy fabric to blend in with her tail. I knew I couldn't get it exactly the same color but hopefully blend it to go with the tail. I then took out my watercolors and painted the lace trim. Turned out pretty good I think. I also pierced her tail and added a friend named Sam to hang along with on the journey all over the US.

The Hermits Garden

On my quest for things to use in a garden I came across this great fun ArtFire shop! It's called the Hermits' Garden because they live way out in the country. They grow a lot of what they eat, drink, and use as medicine. The hubby (Phil) is the leather artist, and The wife (Jan) creates art dolls and folk art! Check it out!

I'll need this pony tail holder ($11 to $13 for most of them) for sure this year to keep my hair out of my eyes when I am out working in the garden or out doing anything these days.

Of course, I found another gourd! Is this not cute or what? I Love it! If you get a chance check out their ArtFire shop.

I found their blog too its a great read!

So I did and I was off on an adventure with this guy on the Wymzee Art Friends Blog and you can too!

Thinking of a garden

I guess its the weather here... rain and more rain that makes me long to get my fingers in the soil and plant some seeds. By the time it stops I'll have to plant those little starter plants you can buy at the nursery and forget the seeds.
I have been out looking for goodies to purchase to put in a garden this year. I think hubby is going to make some raised planters then buy a fence to go around them so the deer and critters stay out. I don't want it to look like just any garden I want to decorate it. I found this great gourd from this gal (Blue Rock Gourds) on ArtFire .

Wouldn't this one look good standing in the middle of a garden? I have a wine barrel I could turn upside down and stand these on. These are all from Blue Rock Gourds so click here to check it out better.

I have been looking at her goodies for years! She has great apple gourds too that would look so cool in a basket on a table. But I think I may buy the bird house above I really like it. I'd like to find more gourd people who make bird houses. I'm also working on a little Americana Art Doll and the traveling art dolls well more about my garden dreams later...
